Ezra Stanton

Pastor

Ezra Stanton has been a pastor for the past 14 years. Though he and Kendra had never been to Austin, they sensed God was leading them to plant a church here. Nine months they moved their family and 32 other people from the west coast to start Mission Church.

Ezra enjoys spending times with friends and family, exploring Austin, watching SportsCenter, playing golf and new shoes. He is married to his best friend Kendra, and they have two little girls and a brand new baby boy.

What are the best parts about being a part of this church?

My son is the pastor! Starting the sixth chapter of my life in a brand new place with brand new people and pursuing what Jesus has in mind for this season of my life.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A pastor. In college, I started out majoring in International Affairs with a minor in Russian. By then I wanted to work in the US Embassy in Moscow. Jesus then drew me back to him and in His redemptive work reminded me why the Father created me. I changed direction, schools and prepared for pastoral ministry.

When you think about God – what is the first thing that comes to mind?

He is the source of all grace and how much He loves to lavish it on all who will humble themselves to earnestly seek Him.

What are the best parts about being a part of this church?

We are a family! And just like any family, we are a fun and crazy mixture of personalities, interests, backgrounds, talents... you get what I mean. I love seeing how God uses each of us, in our own unique little ways, to reach others. After all, He created each of us in our uniqueness! This church really does love God (passionately),love people (all people, no matter what), and love life (we have FUN)!

Do you have any hidden talents?

Oh boy- well, I can make the sound of a bag-pipe and used to dance the Highland Fling!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be on stage. In all honesty, I still do. I love it and I feel at home there. What God has done over the years is very patiently taught me how to let Him use me on any stage!

What is the kindest thing that someone has ever done for you?

My husband let me sleep in! Ha! There's proof that I'm a mommy to young boys- they are our world, but sometimes that world just needs to wait an hour or two. Thank you, Jesse!

What are the best parts about being a part of this church?

I’ve never experienced such a sense of community anywhere else. My favorite part about Mission is that I know that when I walk out of the doors on Sunday afternoon, it’s not the last time I’ll see those faces for a week.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about people. I want to see people experience the majesty of God and then live changed lives, transformed by Christ.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a pro basketball player until I reached high school and realized that may not be the smartest path to pursue.

Fellowship, praying and learning more about God together is fun! Growing alongside others who can lead, guide, and pray for us. Purpose, being part of something bigger than us.

Delighting in Him, knowing we are Christ's ambassador and believing we were chose and cannot be separated from God's love.

What are you passionate about?

Sharing Jesus without fear, coffee, style, my kids, my husband, making sure that children know Jesus loves them no matter what and they were chosen by God!
